About the Golf Rules Blog...

My name is Dagan Heaps, and I'm a golf rules addict...

I've always had a fascination for the rules of any game I played, from baseball to billiards to my current obsession, golf.  I found out I wasn't the only person so afflicted in about 2017 when I stumbled upon the Rhodes Rules School website hosted by the late Barry Rhodes.

It turned out that Barry was seriously enthusiastic about the Rules of Golf!  His knowledge and writings on the subject were extremely deep, and I was mightily impressed.  Barry and I struck up an acquaintanceship via email, and he impressed me even further with his eloquence and gentlemanliness.  He never failed to provide a timely, well-thought-out response to my (increasingly frequent) inquiries.  I thoroughly enjoyed those interactions, and I really miss him.

Upon his passing in 2018, Barry bequeathed his scholarship to another individual who took up the torch... but ultimately had to set it aside due to life's more pressing issues.  Since I have the time and the inclination, I decided to try to pick up that torch myself.

​

Though this blog will never match the depth nor breadth of Barry's work, I hope it will be a fitting tribute to the man in continuance of his mission.  And hopefully this blog will provide a valuable forum for all those golf rules enthusiasts out there... whether they admit to this peculiar affliction or not!
